the industry standard as far as how many miles are given per dollar spent? Is it 1 mile for every dollar spent? Is it 2? Is it 1/2 mile? And how many miles (on average) do you need to purchase a plane ticket?
FYI: I don’t care about interest rate because I pay off my balance in full every month. I am just interested in earning free airline tickets, as I travel twice a year to destinations around the world.

This means that you should not look solely at the interest rate, or the nature of the interest (that is, whether it is simple or compounded). You should check with their computation on how much it will cost you in a year. For instance, a 1% compound interest is worse than a 2% simple interest. This is not apparent, but the compounding will make the APR increase.
